NYSERDA Clean Energy Proof of Concept Centers

NYSERDA Clean Energy Proof of Concept Centers

Leading the Charge for Clean Energy

The Academy and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) are partnering to support Proof of Concept Centers (POCCs) dedicated to helping inventors and scientists turn their high-tech, clean-energy ideas into successful businesses. By providing research teams with funding, mentorship, networking, and business opportunities, the POCCs aim to revolutionize energy use and production, while also creating more New York State-based clean tech startup businesses.

Thus far, three groups have received funding to start two POCCs:

  • PowerBridgeNY, a joint POCC resulting from the collaboration of two awardee teams, one led by Columbia University (with Brookhaven National Laboratory, Stony Brook University, and Cornell NYC Tech), and the other led by the NYU Tandon School of Engineering (with City University of New York).
  • NEXUS-NY a clean energy seed accelerator from High Tech Rochester.
